(a) to relieve poverty, and to relieve ill-health and suffering among survivors of conflict-related sexual and gender-based violence and other persons in need who are congolese nationals or whose displacement, persecution or experience of violence is directly connected to the conflict in the democratic republic of congo, and who are in the united kingdom, the democratic republic of congo, or burundi, by:(i) facilitating access to trauma-informed psychosocial support, including community-based peer support, and referral pathways to appropriate specialist services (including clinical services where required);(ii) facilitating access to medical care and health services through signposting, translation/interpretation support and referrals, and removing practical barriers to access;(iii) providing time-limited emergency practical support and emergency financial assistance to meet immediate needs; and(iv) providing welfare-related information, advice and referrals connected to immediate needs (for example housing, subsistence, health and support services), and making onward referrals where specialist input is required.(b) to advance the education of congolese refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons and other congolese persons affected by conflict or displacement connected to the democratic republic of congo, in the united kingdom, the democratic republic of congo, or burundi, by:(i) providing or facilitating structured education and training in digital literacy and essential life and workplace skills;(ii) providing or supporting supplementary educational programmes for children and young people whose education has been disrupted by conflict or displacement; and(iii) supporting teacher development and access to learning materials and educational resources in conflict-affected communities.(c) to promote human rights (as set out in the universal declaration of human rights and other relevant international human rights instruments) for congolese persons affected by conflict in the united kingdom, the democratic republic of congo, or burundi, by:(i) assisting in documenting and recording human rights violations and abuses affecting civilians in conflict-affected areas;(ii) providing general legal information and rights awareness (including information on the asylum process and access to protection), and facilitating access to regulated legal advice and representation;(iii) raising awareness and understanding of human rights through educational activities and community-based information sessions in the uk and overseas;(iv) commissioning or conducting research and publishing reports on human rights issues, ensuring the useful results of such research are disseminated;(v) presenting evidence-based representations to relevant authorities and bodies; and(vi) supporting reconciliation and peaceful dispute resolution activities in conflict-affected communities, delivered through vetted partners.in furtherance of that object but not otherwise, the trustees shall have powerto engage in political activity provided that the trustees are satisfied that the proposed activities will further the purposes of the charity to an extent justified by the resources committed and the activity is not the dominant means by which the charity carries out its objects.for the purposes of this clause, other relevant international human rights instruments refers to: the international covenant on civil and political rights (iccpr)the convention against torture (cat)the convention on the rights of the child (crc) and its optional protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict (opac) the un declaration on human rights defenders (1998)the african charter on human and peoples' rights, as the applicable regional instrument for drc and burundi.
